Recently, I got into an argument with this prick: :iconxenomaster: over why EVA Unit-01 from Neon Genesis Evangelion can kill/defeat/obliterate/eat Titan Eren from Attack on Titan. I gave several valid reasons why, but he was too lazy & too much of an ignorant prick to actually READ my reasons. Please read & tell me what you think.

1: The EVA is 40 meters in height, so it's bigger then Titans. Titan Eren is only 15 meters in height.

2: The EVA has a large arsenal of superior melee & ranged weapons. Including the Spear of Longinus, a divine weapon with the power of creation. Titan Eren has no weapons & only has it's fists to fight with.

3: The EVA can generate an A.T. Field & manipulate it in various ways, like create a shield or fire a laser from it's eyes. Titan Eren can't manipulate any form of energy whatsoever.

4: The EVA has a consciousness of its own so it can think for itself, so even if Shinji were rendered unconscious the EVA can take control. If Eren loses control, there's nothing that can reign him in.

5: The EVA's Berserk State which increases its strength, speed, & agility by 20x its normal level.

6: The EVA has superior regenerative abilities, even able to pull off the limb of an Angel & integrate it to replace the limb it lost.

7: The S2 Organ the EVA devoured when it killed & ate the Fourteenth Angel, which gives it the gift of immortality, so it can't die. Titans are easy to kill for something like an EVA. 1 slash to the back of the neck, they die.

8: The EVA ascends into the most powerful being in existence & becomes GOD!

This all puts Titan Eren at a supreme disadvantage & prove that the EVA can kick his ass 100 way to eternity.

And the same prick has also been attacking Shinji. Saying Shinji is a worthless coward.

And I say, it all depends on which version of Shinji you pick. Anime Shinji, Theatrical Shinji, or my personal favorite because I can relate to him the most, Manga Shinji.

Both Anime & Theatrical Shinji aren't very brave, but they have their moments. Hell, Anime Shinji was desperate to save Rei from the from the 16th Angel & Theatrical Shinji almost destroyed the world to save Rei!!

Now, Manga Shinji might be timid, but he has a lot of serious balls where it counts & is actually a much deeper thinker then his animated counterparts.

Example 1: He convinced Rei that there was more for the 2 of them then the EVA & they even helped each other grow as individuals.

Example 2: When Shinji's asshole father was interrogating him as to why he refused to destroy EVA Unit-03 while it was possessed by the Thirteenth Angel, Shinji had enough balls to punch the bastard in the face, though, if Kaji weren't there, he would've easily done it. He might've even done something worse to Gendo. Something involving slamming the bastard king in the balls with his foot several times.

Example 3: He made the choice to pilot Unit-01 against the Fourteenth Angel of his own free will & his desire to not see another of those precious to him die awakened the EVA's true power.

Example 4: He & Rei actually are more open to each other with their feelings for each other & even tell each other how they feel.

“And I say, it all depends on which version of Shinji you pick. Anime Shinji, Theatrical Shinji, or my personal favorite because I can relate to him the most, Manga Shinji.”

Personally, it is anime Shinji for me because he is the most realistic one and he is one of the most realistic anime characters of all time for me.

“Both Anime & Theatrical Shinji aren't very brave, but they have their moments. Hell, Anime Shinji was desperate to save Rei from the the 16th Angel & Theatrical Shinji almost destroyed the world to save Rei!!”

Not very brave you say? ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL

Sorry, but I must respectfully call BS on your statement. Shinji is a 14 year old boy with abandonment issues being forced to fight freakish abomination out to destroy mankind in a mech that he had no training for, yet goes through with it anyway time and again. I’d say he has more guts than the bulk of 14 year olds or even adults in his position. :)

“Now, Manga Shinji might be timid, but he has a lot of serious balls where it counts & is actually a much deeper thinker then his animated counterparts.”

I find that subjective.

“Example 1: He convinced Rei that there was more for the 2 of them then the EVA & they even helped each other grow as individuals.”

He rather did that in the anime series and Rebuild as well just not in the same direct fashion. He got her to open up in both and show more emotion. :)

“Example 2: When Shinji's asshole father was interrogating him as to why he refused to destroy EVA Unit-03 while it was possessed by the Thirteenth Angel, Shinji had enough balls to punch the bastard in the face, though, if Kaji weren't there, he would've easily done it. He might've even done something worse to Gendo. Something involving slamming the bastard king in the balls with his foot several times.”

The reason he did not do that in the anime or Rebuild is because he was triple handcuffed. Also, you do know that they were under tight surveillance. Not to mention do you really think Gendo would have let him do that. It would have accomplished nothing for Shinji.

“Example 3: He made the choice to pilot Unit-01 against the Fourteenth Angel of his own free will & his desire to not see another of those precious to him die awakened the EVA's true power.”

The same happened in the anime series and Rebuild too, you know. He consciously chose to go back into Eva, particularly witnessing what happened to Rei getting totaled in both.

“Example 4: He & Rei actually are more open to each other with their feelings for each other & even tell each other how they feel.”

I saw it as similarly developing in both the anime and Rebuild as well with Shinji and Rei slowly getting each other to come out of their shells. The anime and Rebuild are more about subtle buildup, which I prefer over the more frontal-ness of the manga.

P.S. This is not a personal attack, only a civil critique.
